Yet Another Day at the Beach

As I have stated before, this year our family has enjoyed our days at the beach. We usually go on Sunday afternoons following our Sunday Services.

An interesting phenomenon has taken place this year as Jay is no longer afraid of the ocean. It used to be that Jay would just sit and play in the sand, but this year he has come 180 degrees and is usually the first one in the water. Today the waves were larger than usual at Rocky Neck State Park, so Jay and Sam were enjoying frolicking in the waves.

Here they are both surrounded by other kids.
Here he is about to catch a wave...

And another...Now Sam is floating around...too far from shore to ride a wave in, but she enjoyed the bobbing motionSam was more into making a sand castle earlier in the day, despite the tide coming in washing away her creations. Jay was enjoying the water so much, I am glad I brought the camera to document it.

All of this is making more excited for our vacation in just a few short weeks to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. There are decent size waves there and the kids should be ocean pro's by week's end there.

Blog Update

I know it has been forever since I last posted. Perhaps I have had a bit of writer's block! Some fun things have happened over the last month.

The beginning of July, I was able to visit with Aunt Evie and Uncle Dave for a day. We went to a drum corps show in Bristol, RI. That was a good night and we got to see Josh for a few minutes before he caught a late dinner from the food trailer...a very impressive setup despite being rather spartan compared to others.

Unfortunately, Elaine and the kids were not able to visit with Aunt Evie and Uncle Dave as they were all at Music Camp. Samantha did rather well in the Ashford Band and Jay did great in the Boys Noise Voice Class. It was a long week by myself, but I was happy they were able to experience the camp.

A few days after Camp, we traveled to Maine to visit Mom and Dad in their new house. That was a nice time to see them over a long weekend. The house is nice and they are settling in well in Portland.

This past week we have had a busy one at the corps with fund raising. This culminated with a Baseball game last night at Dodd Stadium with the Connecticut Defenders. The Defenders are an AA affiliate of the San Fransisco Giants. We received an on the field check presentation from the team and Jay was the first of several "first Pitches" prior to the first of 2 games last evening. See the pictures below.
Check presentation
Jay's Delivery! I think he might have some good stuff!!!!!!
The pitch as it rolls to the waiting Defender player...He made it about halfway in the air, almost the whole way on a roll.
Other "first pitchers" for the evening including a CO for a submarine.
The lights are on during the 2nd game

It was a good time despite watching a baseball game in my uniform! More exciting things are coming down the pike, so stay tuned!
